The Lizard Brain

February 17, 2010

Everyone has good ideas.  There is never a shortage of ideas in our world nor in individuals.  So why don’t people act on them?  Well we have something called the lizard brain.  The lizard brain is the resistent voice in the back of our head telling us to back off, be careful, go slow, compromise.  As we get closer to an idea to be released into the world the resistence and the lizard brain grows. Why is this? Because the lizard hates change, achievemnt and risk.  Why don’t your ideas ever materialize and/ or companies fail? Because we compromise and work to fit in while fearing the critics while that is just appeasing the lizard.  The lizard brain is apart of human nature but we have to figure out a way to ignore it.  What are you going to do about going with your ideas with no resistance and taming the lizard?

This is gathered from a great marketing mind named Seth Godin.  Here is a video of him explaining this very thing.  Take the 15 minutes and enjoy this. Get rid of that damn lizard!!
