Energy Drains

March 10, 2010

Everyone has energy drains.  Little things that are constantly on your mind that take away a little bit of your energy cause you think about it. It could be wanting to clean out your car every time you get into it, getting your oil changed, making that phone call you have been needing to make, the cluttered room or the messy desk.  These little (or big) things can and will drain your energy.  We must rid ourselves of our energy drains so that we may focus our energy on what we want and the really important things to us.  Here is how we do it:

First, make a list of the top 10 things that are draining your energy on a daily basis.  Think of little all the way to big things.  Once you have a list of the top 10 things do this:

Go through and mark each one with one of the following options:

1) Do it yourself

2) Hire someone to do it

3) Get rid of it completely

Remember if in doubt, throw it out

This will clear your mind and allow you to focus your energy on the important things and on the things you want to spend your energy on.  Plus we need all the energy we can get.

  1. I just finished the book “Getting Things Done – The Art of Stress-Free Productivity” by David Allen and what you said is right along the lines of the book… nice job!
